Visual PathBuilder software for Janome® Robots

    art.nr: Visual PathBuilder

Visual PathBuilder is a CAD/CAM editor software and visual programming environment for Janome® Desktop and SCARA robots and can be used for automatic generation of toolpaths and waypoints for various applications like dispensing, tightening, soldering, etc. The software works like a 3D CAD application with DXF, DWG, IGES, STL, OBJ, Gerber RS274D and Gerber RS274X vector and bitmap graphics import and export features and the ability to create instant working robot programs.
The software imports existing CAD models of your workpieces into project files where toolpaths and waypoints can be easily specified by a few mouse clicks. Toolpaths are constructed by using standard graphical elements like lines, arcs or circles. Order and direction of toolpaths can be freely specified. The integrated simulation feature allows testing programs without having a robot connected.

The software takes care of alignment between drawing and real world coordinates by using one or two reference points. The toolpaths are automatically rotated and moved to appropriate positions if necessary. You are able to edit the program data with a simple to use editor and optionally add point execution data (like PointJob numbers, conditions, line speed). The software even offers a built-in bitmap tracing engine allowing to convert graphics or fonts in bitmaps into paths for your robot. Visual PathBuilder can use black & white bitmaps for toolpath tracing.

Programs can be exported in various millimeters and inches and transfered to the robot via RS-232 serial connection or external software application supplied by the robot vendor.

Visual PathBuilder uses the following simple pattern for creating offline-programs:

  • Create a new project file is created and select your robot model.
  • If available, existing CAD designs or models of the workpiece are imported into Visual PathBuilder. Otherwise you can use the CAD engine of Visual PathBuilder to draw toolpaths manually.
  • Within the plotted maximum procedure range in the 3D area paths, working points and waypoints are drawn visually. Alternatively, already existing outlines in a CAD design can be converted into toolpaths fully automatically.
  • By specifying one or two reference points the system will compute offset-values and deviation angle in order to adjust the CAD coordinates with the machine coordinates.
  • The specified tasks are translated into a robot program automatically without user interaction.
  • The robot program is sent to the machine via serial connection.
